Former Enron Janitors Plea Guilty
Jasper and Casper Lasker are two of the "small fry" caught up in the gigantic Enron scandal that rocked finances last year. The twins were the men responsible for janitorial tasks on the 12th floor on the Enron Building before the company went bankrupt. Prosecutors believe the pair emptied wastebaskets containing documents that could have alerted authorities to illegal activities. Federal Prosecutor Liz Bean alleged in her complaint that the brothers "were part of the cover-up, scrupulously removing and disposing of huge piles of evidence". In a secret plea agreement, both accepted 8 hours of unsupervised probation and agreed to perform 15 minutes of community service. In exchange, the government agreed to drop all charges and buy lunch at La Brisa. Since leaving Enron, the brothers have started a business that sells organic alternative tobacco-like substances for smoking.
