GIRL WITH RARE DISEASE CAN EAT ONLY BELUGA CAVIAR
Bacliff Texas- Becky Wagner, seven, has to live the life of a poor little rich girl...or she will die. Little Becky is the victim of a rare disease called Phyloxima Thyronosis, a disease that only affects one in a billion people. Her stomach rejects every food she eats except rare Iranian Beluga caviar, the most expensive caviar in the world, costing as much as $200 a pound. Until doctors diagnosed her case correctly, Becky rejected every known form of food, and was wasting away, weighing only 12 pounds at the age of 6. Since she started her all-caviar diet she has gained 50 pounds and is now capable of crawling and uttering sounds. Becky must have at least 6 pounds of caviar a week to stay alive and she has exhausted the entire savings of the Wagner family. Her father Luther Wagner, was a brewmaster at a moonshine still in Santa Fe, but was laid off a few months ago. With a family of six to support besides Becky, the Wagners are almost penniless, except for unemployment insurance. I went to the welfare people for help, but you can imagine their faces when I said I needed $500 a week for Becky's caviar," said Luther Wagner. "And then Becky gets awfully thirsty and the only thing her stomach can handle is French Dom Perignon champagne". Mr. Wagner got down on his knees and begged NightMoves readers for their help and prayers. Unless he gets $500 a week, and another $100 or so for champagne there is no hope for little Becky.
