LOCAL CAT DESTROYS $200k PAINTING
Ben Crobbery is a respected collector of paintings who is well-known in the local art community. It was Crobbery who purchased the acclaimed "Portrait of a Hairdresser On Crack" by Marvin McStarven at the Bacliff Jumbo Art Exhibit & Hog Calling Show Oct. 25th. Crobbery paid an unprecedented $200,000 for the work in a silent-bid auction. A subsequent controversy arose when Crobbery claimed his bid said $20, which would also have been the winning bid. A judge made Crobbery pay the higher amount. Then, on Nov. 2, his cat, Chester completely destroyed the valuable work of art. Crobbery, who said the painting was uninsured, remains philosophical. "He's a cat, hell he doesn't know any better" he said.
In separate news, Crobbery announced that he would offer a work of his own for sale. The work is a canvas titled "Revenge", and is painted entirely in some type of animal blood. The asking price is $200,000. Critics are already calling the work a masterpiece.
